Stayed here twice now when visiting the football ground (as an away fan!). Hotel is only a 5min walk from the train station which is good. The hotel was fine for us as it is very basic, if you’re wanting something fancy then this isn’t for you. Rooms on both occasions have been spacious and clean - kettles take forever to boil though! Beds really comfy. Had issues flushing the toilet but it worked eventually. Would stay here again as a basic hotel is fine for us.

3.5 stars would be a more realistic score. Location is amazing, right next to the city centre, several shops within a few minute walk. And approximately 15 minute walk to the beach. Great city view from the window. Rooms are pretty big, as are the bathrooms. Large TV too. Bed was comfortable, and slept well (if you are a light sleeper, it is next to a busy road. And this may make it hard for some people to sleep). Staff were polite, and helpful. 2 biggest downsides; the headboard was filthy, whilst the bedding itself was clean, some parts of the room were very dirty. There is only 1 working elevator, which can carry 3 people at most, and it's pretty slow. As for the hot water (as a few people mentioned that in other reviews), I found if you turned the shower on for a few seconds, that heated up the tap water for a few hours. It is however the cheapest hotel in Swansea, by a considerable margin. If you're staying for a few nights at most, it's suitable. If you're there for a while, it would probably be worth staying somewhere else. I'd happily stay again.

Stayed here when seeing a show. It is in a really good location for restaurants and the Grand Theatre. There is only one lift but there are stairs that can be used. Staff were really friendly and would stay here again if in Swansea.

Yes it's a dated building and it shows from cracks in the ceiling to a non working light but I think not only does the cheap cost make up for that but so does the service and quite frankly the dated nature of the place adds to its personality. Reception were patient with me as it takes me time to process information and staff that came into the room while we were out were respectful and generous. Not only were all of my belongings in the same messy pile I left them in but they remade the bed for us and replaced the 2 biscoff I scoffed. Also the review that mentions the lift is correct it is a three person lift but only twice was that a problem out of what I would say was 10 times using the lift and if you don't have the patience there did seem to be stairs. Check in is generously early at 3pm and the check out window ends at 11am. Overall, a lovely stay and excellent service.

I stayed at the Dragon Hotel for three nights. I drove there. Location: really easy to get to off the M4. Has a car park that charges £10 per 24 hours but is really convenient and has easy access for wheelchair users. The team welcomed me and brought a trolley to transfer my luggage from the car to the lift which was so impressive and also done with a lovely smile :-). The hotel is wonderfully central and my room looked out onto city, hills and sea which was sublime :-). The staff: 100/10 . Polite, go above and beyond to help, gave the hotel a family feel which is so rare in these uber-corporate times. I wanted to know where i could eat a nice fish meal. Instead of just pointing to one restaurant the wonderful reception team made a bespoke information sheet of two sides of places with details, location and reviews and helped me find a wonderful place for meal on the waterside that was just 5 minutes away from the hotel by car :-)). Even a 5 star hotel would not do that. The room: big, clean, with a not-trying-to-feel-like-a-B&q-showroom feel. Not pretentious. Simple decor. Huge, great WIFI connection included. comfortable bed. Road outside could be a little noisy on a friday night, but slept well nonetheless. Maybe a tiny bit like 1970s but hey, retro is back:-). Loved the hot bath after a long journey by car. Shower wasn't the most powerful but adequate. Daily top ups of soap and gels which were good quality. The Restaurant: bijou but again wonderful staff. The menu was small and bar rather limited for people who don't drink alcohol, but staff were keen to hear suggestions and I think somewhere that it will become a quite special place to eat and drink with a little alteration in vision with possibly more of the dragon theme :-). The French onion soup i had was very welcome on a stormy night. Would definitely stay here again. Xx

The staff are amazing, the service is spectacular! Location is perfect. The hotel is let down by the fact its so dated. My advice to the owners, help your staff out by updating the hotel. Carpets although clean are so dated and they are literally coming up. Bathroom although clean they are so dated. Beds uncomfortable. The tv is from 2010 in sure.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station, making it easy to reach as soon as you arrive in Swansea. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the bathroom is well-maintained. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this hotel.
